River Landing at Sandy Ridge has been a part of the Triad for 20 years, opening in 2003 ready to serve as a state-of-the-art retirement community. Spanning over its 154-acre campus, options for independent and assisted living were ready to welcome residents. Looking back over the last 20 years, River Landing has set a precedent for life in retirement.
Along with the living accommodations, River Landing offered a bank, a none-hole golf course, tennis court, swimming pool, biking path, and a fitness center. Within only a few years, River Landing added a childcare center to campus and over 75 new housing options for incoming residents. As the community saw an increase in residents, the completion of a thoughtfully designed wellness center was completed by 2009. By 2017, River Landing had added new physical features to campus, such as the water display at the front entrance, and other renovations to common areas.
While the physical locations on campus continue to grow, the people at River Landing continue make the most meaningful change. In 2017, an Employee Scholarship was established to encourage staff members to pursue their educational goals. Staff and residents participate in many community service events each year, and provide fun, family-friendly events throughout the year, like the annual River Landing Classic Car Cruise-In, held each May.
River Landing already has a rich history and will continue to provide excellent living accommodations and memorable experiences. “Having had the blessing of being a part of the River Landing family since its opening, I can’t believe how WONDERFUL the first 20 years of our existence has been,” states Tom Smith, Executive Director at River Landing. “Although the community’s physical presence has changed tremendously these last 20 years, the River Landing family of residents and staff have been steadfast in their love and appreciation for each other.”
